literally within the space of five minutes today I found out that both my sister and my boss were in car accidents. Both are ok, no serious injuries but in both situations cars were totaled and everyone is a bit shaken up. So this is just a quick note to say please pray that they'll both have peace and a quick recovery.

The Beginning of the End
my favorite pair of jeans is dying.....there is a hole wearing through in the crotch, and yesterday Ivan told me he could tell what color panties I was wearing by the small hole near the back pocket....sigh. I went and bought some jean patches today at walmart...but we all know that's only a temporary fix. Before you know it there will be more holes and the patches I've applied will wear thin and everyone knows that once you've patched them they're just not as comfortable.
I have to say I'm pretty impressed with these jeans. Usually I wear through a pair or two a year but these have lasted me at least three years! Partly because I think I forgot I had them at one point and partly because I was pregnant last year, so they got a nine ish month break. So fare well banana republic jeans that I found on clearance, you have been good to me. I will miss the way you feel on my legs and the way you flattered my thighs like no other pants could.

Reality Check
Lately I've been kinda....well...cranky. Blame it on the weather, the fact that its February, or that I hate my job or even the fact that G has been either teething or sick this whole last month (leaving me rather sleep deprived). But whatever the cause, its left me ungrateful, crabby and downright exhausted. Its so easy to look at my life and count up all the things that are causing me stress and its even easier to spend all my mental free time wallowing in my supposed misery, wondering will this winter ever end?
But no worries my friends, spring is here, I can go outside now and take in a deep breath of air without it hurting my lungs, I can actually feel the sunshine on my cheeks! These last few days God has not only given me a new season but also a fresh outlook on life. He showed me that my life is not only good...but amazing and he continues to bless me daily.
My reality check came a few nights ago. With a husband who works nights I find a lot of free time on my hands late at night when I don't have the energy to do anything else but mindlessly surf the web for something of sustenance to read. In a desperate attempt to entertain myself I discovered the "next blog" button on the blogger website and have spent hours amusing myself by viewing the blogs of random strangers. This particular night the "next" button led me to the blog of a young mother who lost her baby after only two weeks to a heart defect. I spent over an hour pouring over her words, tears running down my face the entire time. Here she was describing how lucky she was to have those few precious days with her terribly sick and broken baby and then there was me, cranky and ungrateful, when my beautiful healthy baby boy was sleeping upstairs in his crib.
There is so much in life I take for granted! my husband who works so hard to support us, my beautiful baby boy with a smile that melts my heart, the fact that we both have steady jobs, families who love us and a support system of friends who would drop everything to help us.

Thoughts on Blogging
I'm finding this whole blogging thing more difficult that I had imagined. Unlike facebook where you can post snippets of your life in single sentences and photos, a blog forces you to write something with more substance. Those of you who know me know that I have a more private nature and so writing whole paragraphs about my life and thoughts is not exactly in my comfort zone. I mean who actually reads this stuff anyways? (in all truth I know its only Emili and maybe Stacy and Brit) but one never knows who will stumble across your blog as they're traipsing through the blogosphere. Perhaps I just need to find the right medium in which I'm comfortable sharing and expressing myself. So for now all you may get are bullet points, photos and a sentence here or there summarizing my recent activities .......at least until I've warmed up to this whole blogging thing.
